“AMA members: How was your return to work? Let us know”
09 Oct 2025
Doctors take time away from practice for many reasons, including parental leave, illness, travel, or personal circumstances. Returning to work, however, can be challenging due to regulatory requirements, workplace barriers, and limited tailored support.
To better understand these challenges, the Australian Medical Association (AMA) has launched a return-to-work survey. The survey explores the experiences, obstacles, and support systems faced by AMA members re-entering the medical workforce.
The survey was developed with input from the AMA Equity, Inclusion and Diversity Committee (EIDC) and occupational and rehabilitation physician members. The results will help guide AMA advocacy on national principles for return-to-work programs, flexible work options, and wellbeing support, as part of broader efforts to improve workforce retention and sustainability.
The survey is for AMA members only and requires login with your email and password. Assistance with accessing your account is available.
