CHSP funding extended for another two years

CHSP provides a range of basic support services, including domestic assistance, transport, meal delivery and social support.
The program remains an important part of Australia’s aged care system, while the government continues to improve services for an ageing population.
Support at Home provides more comprehensive in-home services, including everyday living assistance and personal care, to help older people remain independent for longer.
The government will begin consultation this year on the future of CHSP and other entry-level in-home support services.
The consultation will look at:
- Building a sustainable entry-level in-home aged care program
- Ensuring fair contributions towards the cost of home care
- Using early support to reduce pressure on the wider aged care system
- Creating smoother pathways to more complex in-home care, residential care and other aged care services as needs change
The extension comes as Australia continues to implement major changes across the aged care sector, including the Aged Care Act 2024.
