The investigation began in January 2026 after intelligence about the alleged supply and possession of unlawful vaping products was provided to NSW Police. The TGA then worked with the NSW Police-led Multi Agency Strike Team to investigate and disrupt the alleged supply network.
In February, authorities seized 57,156 vaping products from a commercial storage facility in Burwood, with an estimated street value of $2.8 million.
Further searches in Revesby and Marrickville in July resulted in the seizure of another 188,117 vaping products, valued at about $9.4 million.
A separate multi-agency operation in Bankstown on 13 August led to the seizure of around 200 vaping products and 60,000 nicotine pouches, with a combined estimated value of about $70,000.
Across the operations, approximately 245,473 unlawful vaping products and 60,000 nicotine pouches were seized.
The TGA said investigations into the alleged offences are continuing. Authorities also warned that breaches of Australia's vaping laws can carry significant penalties, including imprisonment and substantial fines.
TGA Deputy Secretary and Head of the TGA, Professor Anthony Lawler, said the seizures demonstrate the strength of cooperation between enforcement agencies and warned that action against the illicit vape trade will continue.
