RACGP Members Urged to Vote Before President Election Deadline

President election enters final voting week
The 2026 RACGP President election is now in its final week.
Fellows, RACGP members and GPs in training who are eligible to vote should have received an email from OGL Group, the Returning Officer, containing a personal voting link.
Members can find information about the candidates on the RACGP website. Questions about the voting process can be sent to elections@racgp.org.au.
Faculty Council nominations close this month
Applications for the 2026 RACGP Faculty elections must be submitted by Friday 28 August.
Faculty Councils give members a voice in RACGP discussions and provide advice to the RACGP Board. Council members also contribute to advocacy and decisions affecting local and faculty-specific areas of general practice.
The list of candidates is expected on 7 September. Where elections are contested, voting will begin on the same date.

AJGP invites GPs to join advisory committee
The Australian Journal of General Practice (AJGP) is seeking GPs who would like to contribute to its new Journal Advisory Committee.
The committee will provide input into the journal's future direction. Expressions of interest can now be submitted until Friday 28 August.

Upcoming learning opportunities for GPs
Medical abortion care
RACGP will hold an online session on medical abortion in general practice on Monday 28 September from 7.00–8.00 pm (AEST).
The session carries 1 EA hour of CPD and will cover key areas of care, including assessment, counselling, referrals, shared care, complications, contraception and follow-up after abortion.
The programme will also discuss Victoria's legal and ethical requirements, screening for reproductive coercion and ways GPs can provide patient-centred care.
Occupational medicine conference
The ANZSOM Annual Scientific Meeting will run from 25–28 October at the Adelaide Convention Centre in Adelaide.
The event is aimed at health professionals working with work-related injury and illness, including GPs, occupational physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.
Sessions will explore topics such as worker mental health, sleep problems, medicinal cannabis, concussion, mild traumatic brain injury, permanent impairment, independent medical examinations and cultural safety.
Attendees can also take part in workshops, site visits, presentations and professional networking.
Early bird registration ends on 19 August.
