Tasmania Health Introduces New SMS Sender ID from 1 July
30 Jun 2026
The change follows the introduction of the Australian Communications and Media Authority's (ACMA) SMS Sender ID Register, which aims to reduce scam text messages by verifying business and organisation Sender IDs.
Using a single Sender ID will make official health messages easier to recognise and reduce confusion caused by multiple sender names.
Messages sent from unverified or unapproved Sender IDs may now appear in a separate message thread labelled "Unverified".
Although all Department of Health text messages will now come from TASHEALTH, each message will still identify the specific service sending it, such as an outpatient clinic confirming an appointment.
Residents are encouraged to look for "TASHEALTH" when receiving SMS communications from the Tasmania Department of Health.
