Tasmania launches new Disability Inclusion Plan for 2026–2030

Tasmania launches new Disability Inclusion Plan for 2026–2030

14 Aug 2026

The plan is based on the experiences and views of people with disability, their families and carers, as well as disability advocacy and representative organisations.

It follows the introduction of the Disability Rights, Inclusion and Safeguarding Act 2024 and represents another step in Tasmania’s approach to disability rights and inclusion.

During consultation, people highlighted that inclusion involves more than providing services and support. It also means designing services, creating public spaces and developing systems that consider people with disability from the beginning.

The Tasmanian Government says the plan will help ensure the voices and experiences of people with disability influence government decisions and the delivery of services.

Over the next six months, Tasmanian Government defined entities, including government agencies and government business enterprises, will develop their own Disability Inclusion Action Plans.

These plans will outline specific actions and measures to improve disability inclusion across government services and organisations.

The Disability Inclusion Plan is available in detailed and summary formats, as well as Easy Read, audio, Auslan video and Braille Ready versions.
