TGA Reassures Public About Defibrillator Safety
12 Aug 2026
The TGA has not recalled these devices and says they should continue to be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions and any safety measures put in place by health services.
The regulator has, however, temporarily suspended the supply of Corpuls 3 and Corpuls 3T defibrillators while it investigates reports of the devices unexpectedly shutting down and restarting during use.
Existing Corpuls devices already in ambulances and healthcare facilities can continue to be used and serviced during the suspension. No new devices can be supplied while the suspension is in place.
The TGA says the suspension is a precautionary measure and does not mean the devices have been found to be unsafe.
The manufacturer and Australian sponsor, Device Technologies Australia, have shared steps to help make the devices safer to use. The TGA is also seeking further evidence about these measures, including software-related problems.
The regulator is working with state and territory health departments, ambulance services and other affected organisations to manage any operational impacts.
The TGA says it will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates where possible.
Healthcare professionals, hospitals and consumers are encouraged to report any medical device problems or adverse events directly to the TGA.
